"DENIMS" (DiamondDel's Educational Networking Industry and Member Services) is the thriving and growing "servant leadership" vision and venture of Delphine Scott, former teacher, assistant principal, and principal and RETIRED Richland School District One school district administrator from Columbia, the capital city of South Carolina.
In her attempt to pursue an out-of-the-box summer work strategy aimed at recruiting teachers to fill 2006-2007 remaining vacancies in her school district, over a period of 10 days, Delphine Scott invited a total of 865 BlackPlanet.com professional profile members to JOIN her educational services industry NETWORK. These were the members who identified the "educational services industry" as at least one of their employment categories.
By the first week in August 2006, 300 online members had already joined Delphine's professional network. In her 'thank you for joining" reply she offered her personal and professional services and vowed to serve as the online networking resource for any member seeking information on South Carolina teacher certification information for certified teacher employment in her school district, Richland County School District One.
This is Delphine Scott's fourth year as a Human Resource Services Coordinator. She assists both the Director of Certified Employment Services and the Coordinator of Recruitment Services with recruiting, hiring, training, and supporting teachers new to the district. While Richland County School District One has a recruitment plan, Delphine has voluntarily developed an educational networking online, away-from-the-office, out-of-the-box, servant-leadership" recruitment plan to further increase the number of teachers hired not only in her Richland County School District, not only in her state of South Carolina, but also in school districts all across the United States.
Delphine Scott's recruitment plan would take her to the four geographic regions of this country without her district having to bear any additional travel, lodging, or meal expenses. While Delphine is an active online and offline member of several professional educational organizations for teachers and school administrators, she is also an active member of several professional online networking communities which are very much non-traditional "teacher recruitment" websites. Whether Delphine's online recruitment efforts take her to the northwest, the northeast, the southwest or the southeast, she has the ability to recruit teachers for her school district without ever having to leave the comforts of her home. So, you might ask how is that possible. Well, for starters, DiamondDel is a member of the ever-growing and popular Black Planet Professionals. Black Planet has added this professional online community for the sole purpose of facilitating opportunities for networking among its professional members. In addition, Black Planet has a strategic networking alliance with Monster.com to address members' various employment needs.
As a result of her educational networking, Delphine consults and offers her professional services across the country to out-of-state teachers, alternative certification teacher candidates, soon-to-graduate teacher candidates.
She also provides guidance and support to online first and second-year teacher education majors for whom she tracks and maintains an ongoing updated database. Delphine continues to assist online future teacher candidates who not only are in the process of completing certification requirements to teach in her district and state of South Carolina, but also for many other would-be teachers across the nation.
Delphine often speaks of the personal joy and fulfillment she derives from being able to provide services to other colleagues and upcoming professionals throughout the United States, answer their questions, and assist them in making important career decisions. It has been a year now and over 900 Black Planet Professionals have become members of DiamondDel's Educational Networking Industry and Member Services. DENIMS Professionals educational network continues to grow and includes not only professionals in the educational services, but also in other professional business industries. DENIMS Professionals website provides educators and businesses multi-networking opportunities to meet their personal and professional needs. Delphine continues to express her amazement over the positive responses to her outgoing educational networking invitations as well as over the numerous incoming invitations from other job industries desiring a professional networking connection.
This kind of awesome response represented for Delphine more than just a large number of professional members accepting and extending network membership invitations. It was much, much more. The large, growing membership network she had acquired IGNITED in her a renewed commitment and dedication to SERVICE. Yes, the kind of service based on a philosophy which has always been a driving force within her. It would be the philosophy of servant leadership.
